The Beziers Sound and Light festival has been on everyones lips for weeks, it's something that I've never seen nor heard of before, but given how everyone is talking about it I figured it could be something worth seeing. It goes on every single Friday, Saturday and Sunday night throughout the entire summer, starting at 10pm and finishing at 10.45pm. It's basically the history of Beziers being portrayed on the Theatre using lights and sounds. Sounds weird I know, but I'll explain more.
A few weeks ago, Sander and me were invited to one of my friends parties in the Café des Arts in the center of Beziers. One of my other friends decided to organise an amazing event that night in the same Cafe, which involved loads of amateur bands playing their music, tattoo artists doing Live Paintings, loads of people drinking and enjoying themselves and even the off bit of acoustic guitar in the crowd. The party was scheduled on the same night as the Sound and Light festival, so as the date got closer and closer and more and more people were getting excited for the birthday party/live concert, we got some bad news. The "Mairie" had contacted the organiser and told him that from 10pm to 10.45pm they had to cut all music and lights and basically sit there in silence for 45 minutes right in the middle of a concert. As you can imagine, when he posted this news on the Facebook group, everyone was so furious and trying to find solutions. Eventually, they dropped the battle, saying that during those 45 minutes everyone could get out their guitars and candles and just chill out for 45 minutes.
So on the night itself, as soon as a massive crowd has gathered in the center, Becca, Sander and me decided to go and see what all the fuss was about. And it was incredible. I don't know how they did it but they managed to transform the Theatre into some sort of Cinema screen, there was a full on historical movie being played on the front of the building, all while using the most amazing different lights and effects. One of the effects was that the Theatre was on fire and it genuinely looked real.
During all of this, we had completely forgotten about the party and how everyone was handling the "blackout", but when I turned around, I saw that a hell of a lot of the people who were at the party had come out to see what was going on, and they were enjoying it.
I sadly didn't even think to take that many photos because I was so engrossed in it, but the main photo gives you an idea of what is going on.
